Washington Redskins team history

The Washington Redskins have one of them most storied NFL Franchises, including some of the more colorful championship teams of all time. The Redskins are members of the NFL's NFC East Division. in 1932, George Marshall started an NFL team in Boston called the Boston Braves, the team was renamed the Redskins the next year after moving to Boston's Fenway Park. In 1937, the team was moved to Washington, D.C., thus becoming the Washington Redskins. In the Early 40's and 50's the Redskins were dominant in the NFL and captured titles in 1937 and 1942. But, one of the most famous Redskin teams of all time has to be the 1983 Hogs team. The team was led by quarterback, Joe Theismann and running back, John Riggins and went on to win Super Bowl XVII against a tough Miami Dolphins team. The winning ways would continue after the 1983 season, with Super Bowl victories in 1987 and 1992. In recent history however, several managerial mishaps and player signings have kept the Redskins out of Super Bowl and sometimes even playoff contention, However former coach, Joe Gibbs is back, and a lot of Washington Redskins fans think he may be able to bring back the drive and desire to win that makes the Washington Redskins a great NFL team.
