New England Patriots team history

The New England Patriots are one of 4 members of the AFC East. The New England Patriots started as the Boston Patriots in 1959 and played at various fields in the Boston area, including Fenway Park until 1970 when they moved to Foxboro, MA and renamed the New England Patriots. In 1978, New England won their first division title in team history, losing to the Houston Oilers on Dec. 31, in the first playoff game ever at Foxboro. In 1985, The patriots with just a wild card playoff berth made it into the Super Bowl, only to be dominated by a legendary Chicago Bears team led by Walter Payton. The best history to talk about for the New England Patriots, is recent history. The Pats have won 2 out of the last 3 Super Bowls, and have been solid playoff contenders since 1996, losing in the 1997 Super Bowl to the Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre.
