Cleveland Browns team history

The Cleveland Browns are in the NFL's AFC North division. The Browns have a interesting history because ultimately the current Browns team is an expansion team formed when Art Modell moved the Cleveland Browns to Baltimore in 1996, thus leaving Cleveland with no NFL franchise for 2 years. In 1999, the Browns regained an expansion NFL Franchise and formed a new team, but kept the same uniforms made up of brown, orange and white. One of the most famous Browns players is running back Jim Brown, who in his short career from 1955-1966 led the Browns to a NFL Championship in 1964. Brown gained over 12,000 career rushing yards and is considered by many NFL Football experts to be one of the best, if not the best running back of all time. Other notable Browns players include the very accurate quarterback, Bernie Kosar, who led the Browns to 3 AFC Championship games in the late 80's. Each time during that period (86,87, and 89) Kosar lost to his arch-nemesis, John Elway of the Denver Broncos. One of the most notable, would be the 1986 matchup which featured "The Drive", a 98 yard touchdown drive by Elway to tie the Browns, send the game into overtime, and eventually cap off a Broncos win. A moment that Cleveland Browns fans would like to forget, and who knows maybe this will be the year that the Browns will avenge their losses to the Broncos in the AFC Championship.
